Who we are

Al Ummah Foundation is a registered UK charity formed by a group of school friends whose bond spans over 30 years. What started as a shared passion between friends but felt like just a pipe dream soon progressed into a brainstorm of ideas and visions and through hard work and the will of Allah, Al Ummah Foundation was born. 

Our vision was simple and twofold; we wanted to sincerely reach out to those greatest in need of our assistance while keeping our generous and loyal supporters firmly in the driving seat, every step of the journey. We have started a charity where we strongly believe in a 100% donation policy and have created a trusted volunteer system in order to cut out any costs we may otherwise incur. We pride ourselves in being open and transparent with our supporters and will continue to do so even as we grow.  

What we do

Our first charitable project was financially sponsoring an orphan to aid with their education. This was a fantastic start but Alhamdulillah, Al Ummah Foundation has come a long way since then.  We now have two primary focuses:

Water well projects:

Our first aim is to provide fresh drinking water for those who have limited access to drinking facilities. Having access to clean drinking water is not a luxury; it is a basic human right. Right now there are millions of people who have the burden of trying to source clean water to drink. So far (2018-June 2020) we have installed over 80 hand water pumps (tube wells) and as a result have taken away the worry of sourcing clean water for many families. We will continue to work hard alongside our volunteers to source areas in need of tube wells and provide fresh water to hundreds of families.

Sponsoring an orphan:

Our second work stream revolves around identifying orphans or children from impoverished communities who wish to pursue their educational goals but restricted due to family commitments or lack of resources or financial support. This includes taking on the financial responsibility for their education, food & healthcare. Sponsoring an orphan is so much more than just a charitable donation; it helps a child stand on their own feet and give them the tools to change their lives whilst also giving you an opportunity to gain Sadaqah Jariyah- an ongoing source of gaining reward for the Hereafter. We believe in not just helping people in the here and now but creating sustainable opportunities and giving someone access to knowledge and education is one of the best ways to achieve this.

Emergency Relief:

In addition to our ongoing projects, we also aim to respond to emergency situations where there are vulnerable people who need immediate help. We have provided emergency relief for Rohingya refugees during the winter months and most recently we have had a fantastically successful Feed the Fasting campaign, which saw us reach over 200 families with food parcels during the Covid-19 outbreak.
We are committed to responding to any major emergency relief projects that may arise due to natural disasters, virus outbreaks or conflict. 

The Future

Whilst we are immensely proud in everything we have achieved and eternally grateful to Allah Almighty for making it possible, we at Al Ummah Foundation know we have a long way to go and many more goals to fulfil.
Al Ummah means The Community, and we believe we are all one global community bound by a duty to reach those in need across the world. Therefore, we are aiming to create viable ways to generate sustainable income sources for underprivileged people on an international level. Through your help and donations, we hope to reach many more people in need and continue to work with honesty and integrity. By working together, we can make a change in the lives of thousands of people by empowering entire communities to break free from a cycle of fear and poverty and gradually become more self-sufficient
