Background

Al Ummah Foundation received a request to install a hand water pump (Tube Well) in a rural area of Biswanath, Bangladesh. Poor families in a rural village consisting of two poor families dAl Ummah Foundation received a request to install a hand water pump ( tube well ) in a rural village in Biswanath, Bangladesh. Two families do not have easy access to clean water. Families consume water by collecting in bulk from nearby villages during the day. They resort to washing from a pond which acts as a source of bathing and household chores. The water is dirty and believed to be teeming with parasites and not safe to drink. Very likely to be contaminated, containing bacteria and other harmful chemicals. Ruptara Begum is an elderly lady who will greatly benefit from having access to water close to her home. All families are very poor and do not have the means to install a tube well and qualify for sadaqah. Providing her and the families with a tube well is vital as it will ensure that these families have unlimited free access to fresh clean water for drinking, domestic use and bathing.

Outcome

The project was completed in Aug 2022.

As a result of this project, the two families now have unlimited access to fresh clean water, for drinking, domestic use and bathing and would not need to walk a long distance to get access to clean water.

This hand water pump was donated by a regular donor’s children as Sadaqah Jariyah for their Grandfather who past away recently. May Allah (SWT) accept their donation and grant him the highest place in Jannah.

How has the installation of the hand-water pump benefited the recipients and wider community?

The families will have access to fresh, safe drinking water, assist with bathing and household chores from this hand water pump.
It will improve their health considerably.
All members of the public and visitors will now benefit from free access to fresh drinking water sources. The beneficiaries have agreed to grant access to anyone who requires it.
