Hand water pump – Kamargoan, Chhatak, Sunamganj, Bangladesh

Background

Al Ummah Foundation received a request to install a hand water pump (tubewell) in a rural area of Sunamganj, Bangladesh. Poor families in a rural village consisting of two poor families do not have any source of fresh water supply. Family currently collects water from a pond which is not safe to consume. The families were forced to consume water from a pond which acts as a source of drinking water, bathing and household chores. The water is dirty and believed to be teeming with parasites and not safe to drink. These people did not have the means to install a tube well and qualify for sadaqah.

Outcome

The project was completed in Feb 2022.

How has the installation of the hand-water pump benefited the recipients and wider community?

The families will have access to fresh, safe drinking water, assist with bathing and household chores from this hand water pump.
It will improve their health considerably.
All members of the public and visitors will now benefit from free access to fresh drinking water sources. The beneficiaries have agreed to grant access to anyone who requires it.
