Background
Al Ummah Foundation received a request to install a hand water pump ( tubewell ) in a rural village called Nowdher, Purbo Para, Boiragi Bazaar in Biswanath, Bangladesh. Four families have benefited from having a hand water pump in this area. Previously those families consumed water from a nearby house, on occasions, at nights it was closed to them. Furthermore, the owner was looking at closing this for public access even during the day by moving it inside his house. To get fresh water the families would have had to travel long distance if this access was denied, or resort to getting water from the nearby pond that were often dry during the summer months and contaminated during the monsoon season. The beneficiary and the other families are very poor and have little savings. They are farmers and just about make ends meet.
Outcome
The Hand Water Pump has been installed in the land of the beneficiary and is in an open area where it will be accessible to anyone that requires it, without any restriction. As a result of this project, the families and nearby families now have easy access to fresh clean water. Today these families do not travel long distances to collect water.
This whole project was donated by a regular donor as Sadaqah Jariyah for his Mum and Sister. May Allah accept his intentions and grant his Mother and sister the highest place in Jannah. Ameen.
