Background
Al Ummah Foundation received a request to insert a tubewell in a rural village called Dhulcatol in Nabiganj, Bangladesh. The installation of this tubewell was extremely important and beneficial as it would be accessed by four families, totalling 30 people.
The families are all very poor and do not have a steady source of income; instead, they rely on doing odd jobs and work in other people’s houses as a way of making money. They also do not have access to a water well nearby or even within walking distance.
Providing these families with a tube well is vital as it will ensure that these families have unlimited access to fresh, clean water for drinking, domestic use and bathing. Having a tube well will also ensure that surrounding families have access to water, as the families have stated they will not restrict others from accessing their tubewell.
Outcome
Having conducted our ground research, we were satisfied that the needs of these villagers were genuine and that this project meets the vision and aims that Al Ummah Foundation believes in; to install tube wells/provision of vital fresh water for drinking and domestic use. This project was completed in April 2021. This hand water project was donated by regular donor, May Allah bless her and her family abundantly.
