Al-Ummah Foundation ran several campaigns in Ramadan 2020 in order to raise money for those in need. As a result of your hard work, generosity and blessings one of the things we were able to do was to build 15 Hand Water Pump (tube wells) in Bangladesh.
Our team of volunteers worked relentlessly hard to assess and identify those in the most need of access to a tube well and to make it come into fruition. We installed tube wells in several different villages, all in areas where access to clean water was extremely difficult or near impossible. Some of the families were having to utilise dirty stagnant water from ponds whilst others were relying on asking people from neighbouring villages for access to their tube wells. All the families we helped had no access to a tube well at night or during extreme weather conditions and relied on rationing their water supplies or utilising dirty water.
To put into perspective just how great an achievement this is here are some facts and figures:
- These Hand water pump ( tube wells ) were of direct benefit to 16 families
- These 16 families comprise of 97 members
- Of these 97 members, the majority are elderly or young vulnerable children
- Many more tens of families will benefit from clean water as they will be allowed access by those we supplied with tube wells
As you may know, Al-Ummah Foundation was founded on one key goal; to provide people with access to clean, fresh water and to protect their lives, health and dignity. Every penny that you have contributed has helped us reach this amazing goal and is now a form of Sadaqah Jariyah for yourselves. You have saved hundreds of people from the risk of water-borne disease and infection and protected their privacy and dignity in accessing water for bathing. You have helped keep the vulnerable safe and given these families a form of independence and created a source of Sadaqah Jariyah for them as they allow other families to access their tube wells.
