Background
Shama Ruf is a widow with children and one of the poorest people in the vicinity. She used collect drinking water from others homes however this was not always possible, especially at times when the weather is poor, night or very early morning. Shama was forced to use the pond which was unhygienic and risked causing harm to her families health.The beneficiary has been spoken to by AUF and an agreement had been reached, when a hand water pump is installed, she will give access to everyone who requires it. This would apply to her immediate neighbours and others in the village. Her immediate neighbours include six families. The benefit does not just include her and her children but others.
Outcome
Approved by the board and work started in February 2020 and completed 11th September 2020 Alhamdulillah. This hand water pump installation has taken away from Shama the worry of such a basic need ‘water’.
